In 2017 the Summer House turns six years old, with a second retreat -  The Winter House - launched in February 2015. Read on for background information into how this community came together.

August 2012 - The First Summer House

In August 2012 a group of friends first gathered to celebrate their birthdays across a sun-drenched summer weekend. Over those days The Summer House was born: a place to encounter old acquaintances and meet new ones; to forge intimate connections that may be fleeting or eternal; and to explore sensuality and spirituality in a fun but respectful environment. Numerous new friendships began that weekend and continue to this day...plus of course we ate a great deal of birthday cake.

May / June 2013 - The Crowdfunding Campaign

Our enormous thanks go out to everyone who pledged in the Summer House Weekend 2013's crowdfunding campaign, which provided the energy and funds to make the project a reality. The crowdfunding campaign ended on Sunday 16th June 2013, raising 70% of the total budget for the event and 40% more than the bare-bones minimum we asked for.

August 16-18 2013 - The Summer House Weekend 2

Building on the roaring success of the first Summer House in 2012, we decided to broaden our calling to bring along more guests in 2013. We located a beautiful and much larger historic Arts and Crafts house set in over 300 acres of grounds (as shown in the video below). Within these stunning surroundings, 2013's Summer House included camping, meaning that we could invite even more people to join in this amazing country house party. All guests with summer birthdays were invited to cut the birthday cake with us, now a proud tradition of the Summer House Weekend!

August 14-18 2014 - The Summer House Weekend 3

(Read feedback on 2014 here)

With our previous two venues having been sold, we found a new Georgian house in rolling countryside for 2014. The slightly smaller capacity of the house and grounds meant expanding the infrastructure of the event to include a number of marquees to host our dining room, bar and the larger workshops and parties. For the first time the event lasted four days, enabling guests to take their time in setting up and leaving. We increased the number and range of workshops and added movie nights, introduced by some community members.

Responding to demand from guests, 2015 sees the launch of a new retreat drawing upon the same values as The Summer House but entirely indoors and celebrating the close of winter. The Winter House is hosted in a brand new country manor, probably our most splendid yet.

The Summer House Weekend returned for its fourth birthday across August 20-24th 2015.

Tickets, glamping and food booking for 2017 available now.
