Where to Sleep — camping and accommodation
Numerous accommodation options are available to guests
SLEEP INSIDE THE HOUSE ITSELF
We offer a limited number of rooms inside the house. These large rooms are of a hotel quality, with either en-suite bath / shower or access to well-appointed shared bathrooms.
Guests with disabilities or chronic health conditions may apply for a limited number of accessibility rooms.
BELL TENTS WITH BEDS
Sleep in a splendid canvas bell tent, with bedding for 2, 3 or 4 people, pitched ready for your arrival. Tents are yours any time from your arrival on Thursday night until you leave first thing on Monday morning. These traditional canvas bell tents are waterproof, warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather — unlike many of today's cheap plastic tents. For the first time we are also offering a few spaces in a dorm-style tent shared between ten guests.
Self Camping + CAMPERVANS
Self-camping is free — pitch your own tent in the grounds of the house (we encourage you to decorate your camp!)
We provide toilets, hot showers and running water from a tap at no extra charge.
By booking one of the very limited live-in vehicle passes, guests may bring their own campervan / caravan / live-in vehicle. We cannot provide hookup for water or electricity. Please be aware that there are only a very small number of passes available due to limited hard standing.
Campervan update Jul 4 2019: All hard standing for large RVs / caravans is now sold out. Do NOT bring a large RV / large motorhome, long wheel base, farm vehicle, Luton, Coachbuilt motorhome , A class motorhome, tag axle motorhome or caravan.
If you have a small campervan along the lines of a VW camper, micro motorhome or Bongo - and if you are confident that it can be parked on a grass verge on a gravel road, you may park it in our parking area with no further charge.
Please note that we do not allow awnings, shades, gazebos, tents or other structures in the car park or around campervans. Also we do not allow cooking, smoking or noise in the parking area or around campervans.
The Summer House is fundamentally a camping event and we strongly encourage you to stay at the House throughout the whole weekend. It is a fairly remote location and dropping in/out is not advisable. However for guests who might like to arrive early or stay late, we have created a list of some local B&Bs and campsites.
The venue is near Lockerbie, about 25 mins from Carlisle station on the border of England and Scotland. We do not publish the precise address of The Summer House to anyone other than ticketholders, who receive the details 7-10 days before the event. Upon confirmation of your ticket, if you wish to get the name of the local town so you can do your own search, please purchase your ticket then contact us requesting it.
Please note that the gates to The Summer House will not be open continuously. In a bid to keep the event secure and private we are only opening the gates to ticket-holding guests during daylight hours. Guests arriving after sunset (ie 8.45pm) will not be permitted entry, nor will they be allowed to leave and return during these hours. You must arrive and leave with your PAL(s).
