Is sex positive, intimate, feminist, queer, safer sex porn possible, and once made will it turn you on? Can it encourage you to use condoms in the ‘heat of the moment’? We at The Pleasure Project believe so, so we set out to make films that are a whole new category of edutainment, both erotic and educational. Because in the world today, most people learn about sex from porn. Unfortunately most porn is repetitive, sexist, racist and shows unsafe sex. So we wanted to create our own sex positive content to challenge the usual.
The Pleasure Project has been shaking up the sex education world by showing porn films at medical conferences, and showing condoms at porn conferences.
Since 2005 we have been acting at ‘condom consultants’ for a range of erotic films and last year we decided to make our own range of short films that will available as part of a sex education online site.
We had a blast making them, have many funny and touching stories to tell, but most importantly we want you the Summerhouse community to give use sex positive feedback, to muse on whether touching, respectful, yet intimate porn is possible – and how we can eroticise condoms in yet more ways…
We will start this session by talking about our experiences of working on porn sets, showing actors and actresses how to sexy up condom use, and then our ten tips for actually making porn, and then show the three films before having an open discussion.

Annie is a, public health professional, pleasure propagandist and guerrilla girl of HIV prevention. She founded ’The Pleasure Project’, widely recognised as leading global organisation putting the sexy into safer sex in 2004, because she was frustrated that ‘sex education is rarely sexy and erotica is rarely safe’. The Pleasure Project builds a community of creative practice promoting pleasure in sexuality education and 'Share Your Fantasy' salons, these have run in India, at SummerHouse and elsewhere, and encourage people to share fantasies in the pursuit of good safe sex.
Annie is a lover of erotica who has run sex education programmes in the UK, South Africa, India, Thailand amongst other places. She has qualifications in international public health and psychology and has published widely in health journals ( most recently in The Journal of Porn Studies) and erotic magazines, on the importance of blurring the boundaries of pleasure and public health. Annie had regularly wowed the crowds at the International AIDS conferences with a stunningly sexy female condom demo.
The Pleasure Project has created a new category of visual content; explicit sex education that turns people on and porn that educates. She will die a happy woman when pleasure education is seen as an essential element of decent sex education and HIV prevention programmes. And Porn film makers eroticise Condom use.
